License issues of Morevna Project Demo

Lately I started to receive requests for permission to use screenshots from Morevna Project Demo on various resources like Wikipedia and others. And it looks like the best is to publicly clarify the situation here one more time, so people can use this post as a reference.

Initially, all visuals of Morevna Project Demo (artwork, models, animation, etc) were produced under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license. But in the soundtrack we have used a music composition which is restricted by the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 license, so the final work has to be restricted by the same license (which resulted in a lot of resentment among the free-culture fans).

Still, any part of Morevna Project Demo, which does not contain the music (e.g. screenshots or visual sources here and here) is freely available under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license.

EDIT: It would be nice if someone find time to update the license for this screenshot on Wikipedia by removing “Non-Commercial” tag. I’m not familiar that much with Wikipedia tags to do that by myself. ^__^”

  1. Although, you know, the resentment could be solved if somebody else made an alternate soundtrack. Or even better, an original soundtrack for the project. I’d recommend you to contact two or three artists that could help you with it, namely Daniel Bautista, Lorenzo’s Music (not to be confused with the voice actor Lorenzo Music) and Josh Woodward. They all release music under free licenses, and the first two use free software to edit their songs to top. Heck, you could even add the music’s sources to the project if you ask them nicely!
